--A clerk named James A E dey, temporarily employed in one of the large auction houses in Charleston, after pocketing $19,000 of his employer's funds, made off in the steamship Britannia for Nassau, leaving his adieux in the shape of a polite note to the gentleman he had so coolly swindled.
