Manchester Items.

--There was quite a lively time in Manchester on Thursday night last, the result of whiskey imbibed by a large number of soldiers who were there. During the day it appears that some liquor had been obtained from the apothecary store of Mr. Snellings, when the run upon his establishment became so great that, to avoid contributing further to the disorderly spirit which towards night began to develop itself, he was induced to close up his store. Soon after this was done a party of these soldiers assaulted, broke down his door, and took away and destroyed a great deal. A citizen named Clarke was knocked down and severely beaten during the night.
