Rinspeed finally unveiled its super high-tech, self-driving sports car Monday.
When the Swiss automobile manufacturer teased the car, called Ʃtos, back in October, it seemed too out of the box to be true. Ʃtos not only drives on its own, but comes with a personal drone that has its own landing pad built into the back of the car.

It'll be first of Rinspeed's 22 concept cars to debut outside of Rinspeed's Swiss "innovation lab." The car can be seen in-person at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas January 6-9.
Here's a closer look at Rinspeed's Ʃtos:
The car takes advantage of eight HD cameras that allows for 180-degree panoramic views. This means there are no blind spots so the vehicle can detect objects and people on its own.

If the car detects something considered an accident hazard, it'll alert the driver on one of the two 21.5-inch displays included in the interior of the car. In truly tricky situations, it'll activate "curb view" so the driver can see a direct view of the front wheels.

Ʃtos' in-car navigation system displays 3D images of nearby trees, buildings, bus stops, and subway stations along the driver's route. It can also look up information about your route and its cell reception to let you know how long you can get uninterrupted service as you drive.

The car will also track the driver's eye movements so it knows if the driver hasn't seen an obstacle. Ʃtos will alert the driver if it detects the driver has failed to see something important.

Ʃtos can also link to traffic management systems, traffic lights, and other vehicles — allowing it to provide vehicle updates for a smoother driver experience. Although the press release doesn't go into detail as to how exactly the car pulls this off.

All of these high-tech features allows the car to drive on its own. And if you truly want to take advantage of that experience, the steering wheel retracts into the dashboard so you have plenty of room to sit back and read.
Other fun perks include wireless cell phone charging in the car and a keyless remote for unlocking, locking, and starting Ʃtos.

Ʃtos also comes with its own built-in personal assistant, like Siri, that learns your typical destinations, route preferences, and music choices. This allows it to make proactive offers, like asking if you want to play a certain album. You can control the assistant using voice command, gestures, or taking advantage of the touch display.

Ʃtos can also use near field communication to automatically pay for parking.

But the craziest thing about this car has to be that it comes with its own drone. The drone can be controlled using the interior touch displays.
Rinspeed
The drone has its own platform, which is lit up with 12,000 LEDs, in the back of the car. The drone pad is made with gorilla glass, which is also used to make smartphone screens.

Here, the driver orders the drone to pick up flowers for Valentine's Day.
Although I'd love to see how it communicates with the florist.
The drone also has its own camera so it can take some pretty cool aerial shots while you're driving.

We have yet to hear whether the car will go into production, and if so, when. There's also no car specs just yet. We may find out more at CES, and we'll update you if we do.
